Reps have attended round table discussions at Deloitte and Hassans where they have discussed related issues that are relevant today. The organisers of these events have described our pupils as 'exceptional', 'intelligent' and 'extremely mature'. They have also attended conferences organised by the Ministry of Equality to mark these dates. In the latest conference, Caitlyn Bautista, head student, gave an outstanding experience on being a young woman today.
At Westside, we believe in meaningful interpersonal relationships and interactions. We wanted sixth form students to have an outdoor space that felt comfortable and appealing, so that they could study outdoors if they chose, or take a break from their work in the fresh air. Reps have been gardening, building and beautifying in their weekly Wednesday meetings...watch this space for updates!
As part of the beautification drive, senior prefects have been planting, watering and nurturing lots of wonderful plants, flowers and seedlings that were donated to the school by members of Gibraltar's community.
SASC successfully runs weekly recycling collections from teachers' offices and classrooms and is slowly building their sustainability initiatives.
Head Student Aditya Dhanwani coordinated a large number of volunteers from SASC to raise £415 for Action4Schools. More recently, SASC raised an impressive £710 for the Valencia appeal.
Our Net Zero reps, Lilly Mae, Kevagn, Adi, Malika and Kaoutar have, in their most recent meeting, discussed ways of getting everyone in the community on board with environmental drives.
Earlier in March, Caitlyn Bautista and Bryley Mor represented Westside School in the Youth Symposium with Minister Santos.
Deputy Head Students Bryley Mor and Gabriella Ghio have been rolling out a student ambassador programme, where two reps from each year group meet regularly with SASC to put concerns and ideas forward.
