The Level 2 Technical Award in Hair and Beauty allows you to gain theoretical knowledge and some technical skills, related to the hair and beauty sector, not usually acquired through general education. The qualification develops the following knowledge, understanding and skills:

This assignment is designed to require the candidate to identify and use effectively in an integrated way an appropriate selection of skills, techniques, concepts, theories, and knowledge from across the whole content area.
The exam is designed to assess candidate’s depth and breadth of understanding across the mandatory content in the qualification at the end of the period of learning, and will be sat under invigilated examination conditions.
Note: Students can combine this Certificate of Personal Effectiveness Handbook (6 credits) with a Short Course (6 credits) to achieve a Level 2 equivalent qualification (12 credits). The can also combine 2 Certificate of Personal Effectiveness Student Handbooks to achieve a Level 2 equivalent.

The Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE) is ASDAN's flagship qualification and offers an imaginative way of accrediting young people’s curriculum enrichment and extra-curricular activities, allowing centres to certificate a wide range of personal qualities, skills and achievements, as well as introducing new activities and challenges.
The aims of the qualification are to enable candidates:
To develop and demonstrate a range of personal, key and employability skills leading to personal effectiveness
To broaden their experience and manage learning through the enrichment activities provided by the ASDAN challenges
To receive formal recognition and accreditation for the above.
This is a nationally-recognised qualification where Level 1 CoPE is equivalent to a D/E Grade at GCSE and Level 2 a B Grade at GCSE.
CoPE offers students the opportunity to develop a number of skills needed for lifelong learning. These skills are assessed through a number of activities, for example, problem solving, working with others, research skills, improving your own learning and participating in discussions and presentations.

The Gibraltar College offers a Level 3 Technical Certificate in Hairdressing which can be taken up in Year 12. The course aims to provide you with a range of essential and practical skills and knowledge, which will equip you to seek employment or further training within the hairdressing Industry. The skills include carrying out services such as; shampooing, conditioning, styling, dressing and setting hair, cutting and colouring. Following successful completion of this qualification, you will be qualified to work in a number of employment destinations such as hairdressing salons, hotels or cruise ships.
5 GCSE passes with minimum grade E or grade 3 (or equivalent).
Successful completion of the Level 2 Certificate offers candidates several routes for progression:
Further learning opportunities within employment;
Progression to Level 3 programme (subject to meeting Level 3 entry criteria).
