In Dance we learn to build up a supportive and encouraging environment to enable us to thrive, this comes from mutual respect

Everyone in Dance has a voice and is given equal opportunity to express themselves

Self control- We learn how to become responsible for our own learning and to regulate our emotions in order to communicate effectively

Dance Vision

Through Dance we aim to create confident performers who:

Rationale

Dance is a universal art form that has been used for thousands of years to communicate ideas, stay fit, for enjoyment, and to build community spirit. We aim to show how this is still relevant today and hope to inspire the next generation of creative minds.

Lunchtime clubs:

We provide a Dance club for students to enhance their skills and collaborate with diverse peers. This club also prepares participants for school concerts and assemblies, offering additional opportunities for performance. Workshops are also offered by our ks5 students. These consist of taught material as well  as opportunities for students to choreograph their own material based on set tasks.

School concerts:

Our department plays a crucial role in school concerts, crafting diverse Dance performances that showcase the outstanding work accomplished throughout the school year. It's an excellent platform to celebrate the talent within our school community.

“You are not born with love for Dance and Drama, it’s a passion that will forever be with you. I find it amazing how the techniques and skills I have learned within the Dance and Drama Department have led me to the person I am today. The clubs taught me self expression and discipline and allows me to be myself, also letting my emotions flow freely”
